#E5 Be Brave
We read the story of Stephen in Acts 7. Stephen loved Jesus very much and he loved helping other people find out about Jesus. He was telling everyone about Jesus, but the Jewish religious leaders didn’t like it. They decided they would stop Stephen from telling people about Jesus and they picked up big rocks and threw them at him. While this awful moment was happening Stephen looked up and saw into heaven and saw Jesus standing.
Acts 7:56 “Look, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man- that’s Jesus standing at the right hand of God.”
Jesus stood, because he stands with us in hard times. Jesus doesn't just sit there when bad things happen, but he doesn't always stop them. He does stand with us and give us strength and grace.
Why doesn't God stop all bad things? Because he gives us real power to make choices- both good and bad. Our choices affect others for good or for bad. Stephen's bold choices meant many people became Christians.
Our choices, big and small make a big difference in the lives of others. We can be the answer to someones prayer for help. Our courage in talking to someone about Jesus can make a big difference in their life.
Jesus, help us to be brave like Stephen, and like Christians throughout history who have bravely followed you and made good and courageous choices.
Jesus, fill us with courage and give us the grace to do hard things, like stand up for you and stand up for justice.
Jesus is there someone you want me to speak to about Jesus today? Jesus is there brave choice you want me to make today?
